KOKO _ A Restaurant Design With Elegant And Inviting Interiors _ Hyderabad
The Tham legacy dates back to 65 years when Mon Yiu Tham moved to Bombay with a dream to remold the Asian food space in the city by opening Mandarin and Kamling. His grandsons, Ryan and Keenan continued his legacy and went on to carve their signature niche in this space. Learning the trade first hand, they started Trilogy followed by Pebble Street Hospitality which encompasses The Good Wife, KOKO and Foo.
A quintessential Asian fine dine set in Mumbai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad KOKO seeks to redefine the luxury dining experience in India. The interiors are sophisticated and bold, with unique features, KOKO indulges its patrons with a lavish and grandiose setting with al-fresco seating, a high-energy bar and an exclusive private dining KOKO Suite.
Designed by Essajees Atelier, this 10,000 sq.ft. restaurant and bar in Hyderabad is a beautiful story to unfold. The design studio came with a killer design concept based on natural forms. The ceiling of the space was 21 feet tall and the site was vast. Their idea was to create a space which is a dream turned reality with most amazing food, drink and ambiance. The team introduced larger than life origami light at the center of it all. The key design element was the large red tunnel which catches the eye from every corner.
Words by Essajees Atelier Team:
The entrance is a true work of art. You’re immediately drawn in by a bold, eye-catching red tunnel. It’s a showstopper and sets the tone for the entire experience—dramatic and unexpected. Red is of course a very Asian color but we wanted this tunnel to transport you into another world.
The seating area has a mix of booths and open dining options, with custom furniture and touches of Asian-inspired design that really tie the place together. It’s accented with a larger than life origami ceiling installation, and we know origami is deeply rooted in Japanese culture.
The bar is an absolute work of art. We have used this stunning green marble top, travertine accents, and gold finishes that make it both elegant and inviting. On the top is hand painted Asian sceneries. We also have massive bamboo lights coming through the space.
We’ve worked with a color palette balanced with green and red, which really compliments with the vibe of the space. One design detail we absolutely love is the luxurious embroidered chair, which adds a truly refined touch.
